We are 13. 🏆
Thirteen years ago today, I hit “publish” on my blog, and I had absolutely no idea what I was signing up for. There were no manuals, just the WordPress dashboard and a stubborn belief that some achieve immortality by not dying, while others… well, we write.
Someone told me that you must leave a mark in the world, which nearly set me down a path of becoming a graffiti artist…
“What’s blogging but graffiti with punctuation?” Or whatever the quote from Contagion actually was.
Anyway, so… 13.
It’s a terrifying number, least because of the Friday the 13th superstition, it’s the age where things stop being cute and start becoming… well, complicated.
Welcome to the teenhood of my blog, where opinions are sharp as knives and you have to check yourself before you cut yourself on the wickedly sharp, shiny edges, while everyone looks on and says it’s not that deep.
Half-finished drafts are scattered all over the drafts folder like clothes on a teenager’s bedroom floor. Just as you cannot reason a teenager out of a mood, you cannot reason a half-written post into finishing itself.
What have I learnt in 13 years?
That you have no control over how people will interpret what you post. Sometimes you’re being very serious and people call you hilarious. Sometimes you think you’re being funny and people instead call you troll. And oh, how the posts you like the least most often end up being the most viewed.

We are 13. Brace yourself, there will be eye-rolling, awkwardness, existential and identity crises, growth spurts, and occasional flashes of brilliance. 🥂
