A Pinch Of Thanks
So, Spotify just informed me my blog’s podcast has tiptoed past 25,000 streams and downloads. Cue the confetti cannons 🎊🎊… right?
Naturally, I began drafting a heartfelt note of appreciation to everyone who has listened, shared, and moved the stories forward.. You know, the kind where you say “Thank You So Much…”
Thank You So Much.….. How Much?
On one hand, I understand what it’s supposed to convey, a lot as in thank you very much. But on the other hand, whenever I encounter that phrase, I picture someone in an apron holding a jar labelled thanks.

From there, they measure out, a pinch.
A pinch of thanks.
Not a handful, not a lot, just so much.
They sprinkle not pour,
Never overflowing
Only a pinch,
And not a drop more.
Measured out.
Quantified.
Weighed on the tiny scale of human appreciation.
Hoarded and reluctantly issued out in the barest of rations.
As if it’s water in a desert.
It’s the kind of thanks that says: “I’m grateful, but don’t get greedy.” You can picture so much, you can put a pinch of it in a bowl, a small bowl.
I much prefer the reckless abandon of “Thanks a lot” or the full‑bodied drama of “Thank you very much” which sounds generously poured out.
Simply saying Thank You is the purest form of gratitude; unquantified, unweighed and ungoverned, after all it is not a spice that is measured.
So here it is: Thank You.
Not weighed. Not portioned. Not begrudged.
Just spilled, unmetered, and unapologetically abundant.
