If you were having coffee with me, I would welcome you to my tangle of words and ask my AI Butler to make you feel at home, what can it not do?
Over the past week, I used AI to write a short love story, made it write poetry in Shona (the poetry was terrible though ) then I used it to draft a psychological profile quiz that can predict you Hogwarts House and of course I used it to compile an article on some essentials of an AI system such as ChatGPT. I have also used it to do several other things which I am not at liberty to disclose, a blogger has to have air off, besides, I made myself sign an NDA which I drafted by AI. 🤡
If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you that I will not be suitably impressed with AI until it can pour out a beverage of my choice into a cylindrical conveyance that can be lifted to my mouth. The cover art for this post was created by an AI system where I simply typed up prompt words for the image and it did the rest. I think this marks a new era for blogging were we wont have to worry about copyright infringements and having to make do with royalty free stock images.

Quick note to my WordPress Bloggers have you tried out the experimental AI Image generation block in the block Editor. Its still at experimental stage and it may or may not be made into a standard feature.

Right, where was I? Oh yes I was extolling the virtues of AI… especially the Image Generation aspect of it. I was almost starting to feel bad that AI can render stunning imagery which can make the most iconic painting look like amateur hour when next to my not so grand attempts at art.
If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you that one thing has filled me with more glee than it should is that I have seen that AI also sucks at drawing fingers. You may or not have noticed but AI struggles in a big way when it comes to rendering realistic fingers. Some of its visualisations make me even wonder if AI can get high on drugs because, what is this?
On the drugs tip, our government has been on serious crackdown on drugs. In the last two weeks, law enforcement agents have arrested over 1 660 people on drug related charge under an operation codenamed “No to dangerous drugs and illicit substances: See something, say something” Their theme seems to be no fish is too small or too big to fry, but in effect they seem to be frying only the small fish and have somehow managed to let the kingpins slip throught the net.
If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you that the government has a penchant for getting invested in the small fish at the expense of the big issues. The woke on the street would call it “majoring in the minor” For example the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority is implementing a statute, which penalises the use of large capacity electricity generators without a proper license (in other words paying taxes)

The development is in line with the Energy Regulatory Act, the Electricity Act as well as the Environment Management Act as spelt out by the statutory instrument 103 of 2008. Owners of standby generators exceeding 100KW should apply for operating licences satisfying the legal requirements for both domestic and commercial purposes.
So picture this, we have electricity challenges and this the path they choose? Ostensibly this is to regulate environmental pollution and other such concerns but you will understand how the ordinary people see this as being vindictive. Just like how they want to move to charging people who installed boreholes on their premises, since all water belongs to the Zimbabwean Water Authority… So what next? Will they soon be charging people who have solar installation on some Solar System Regulation License… oh snap I just might be giving them ideas.
If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you that I saw in media that our neighbours in Zambia to have come to an end of the electricity challenges, according to a BBC News Africa, although I have seen a few people complain about still getting power cuts.
Meanwhile in Zimbabwe, the electricity supply is still erratic as usual following no discernible schedule. The government says the Unit 7 at Hwange Power station is 99% complete and to be online in March… never mind that it was supposed to have been on by November then December, now March, I guess we will see when it happens.

Whats the story with all the Unidentified Flying Objects being shot down from the sky? If no one knows acknowledges them is it possible that they are simply AI powered machines surveying the world before our AI Alien overlords takeover the world? Are aliens real?
Did you watch the Superbowl Haftime show? I always find them to be interesting and this year they had Rihanna with a very pronounced baby bump. Looks like we might have to brace for another year of news featuring Rihanna and hey bun in the oven.
While a new life is on the verge of beginning a prominent South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known as AKA got gunned in what appears to be a hit-styled execution. Rest in power to AKA Forbes
Whats going on in your neck of the woods

The WP ai blocks need a lot of work. The image one you can’t regenerate the picture but have to delete the entire block and add it again. Not very elegant. And the process for turning the ai paragraph into an editable paragraph is so unintuitive that it was like nobody even tested it.
Plus, I just read this blog post yesterday:

Pretty scary if you ask me.

You are right the AI Image block could function a bit more elegantly but to its credit I found it generated more striking images compared to the other services.
The AI paragraph one has totally not been beta tested – I suppose we are their experimental space monkeys telling them everything wrong with their creation
That missing reference thing is quite an eye opener, I think Google went down a few points after their AI made an embarassing factual error in a public demo.
Moving forward, I guess we will have to re-adopt that old adage about never trusting anything you find on the internet, to never trust anything you get told by AI
“Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can’t see where it keeps its brain.”

Technically no longer supporting your blog if you primarily use AI for everything.

I was having a discussion with someone on where and how we draw the line on the things we outsource to AI, and all I can say is, what …erm.. interesting times to be alive. Scary!
But I’ll have you know I’m old school pen and paper and you can’t AI that (at least I don’t think you can, not yet anyway) Not switching to primarily AI anytime soon. 🙂
Cheers to keeping it grounded

Tried out the AI image and the results were terrible. They looked like stock images or vector drawings.
