After posting my previous coffeechat article, I was pleasantly surprised to see the notification that I had published 1337 article on Becoming The Muse. WordPress is such a hype-man noting achievements and milestones that one would ordinarily never think about.

1337 is an odd and weirdly specific milestone that I figured there must be something symbolic about it. Had it been 1331 I would have thought it was some sort of palindrome but 1337 even after I added flames to it like my totem looked cool but did not make any further significance.

A quick search on the internet revealed that the in secret society of computer geeks and gamers the number has a meaning
The meaning of the number 1337
1337 means LEET which is derived from Elite which is an internet slang term for “extremely skilled (at gaming or computing)” or, more generally, “awesome.”
How 1337 becomes Leet
Originally Bulletin Board Systems users with an elite status had the widest access to the system and usually had to be the best hackers in order to achieve that level of access.
Skilled = Elite = LEET
Using the online slang where words were shortened and letters were replaced with numbers, L becomes 1, E becomes 3 and T becomes 7 you end up with 1337

The word was adopted into gaming chat rooms where its continued and found itself on the internet as word that signifies skill or being awesome at something.

So I have 1337 posts on Becoming The Muse, its no small feat, considering I have been blogging for a fair bit of time. Benjamin put it perspective when he broke down how at the current trajectory of his blog it would take 31 years to reach this milestone.
Hello 1337
Thank you for supporting my tangle of words.

PS and this makes it 1338 😂
