If you were having coffee with me, I would welcome you to my socially distanced corner of the internet as I wished you a happy New Year from Becoming The Muse..
So I have only just discovered that my Santa Claus hat lights up… like whaaaat….. Why didn’t I get this memo on Christmas day I would have been shining like rudolf’s nose.
Anyway hello 2022… May you be a Good Year, or even a BFGoodrich even a Dunlop too or any other solid brand of tyres 😂😂😂 come on how are you not laughing?

If you were having coffee with me I would tell you that having failed to steal Christmas, the Grinch decided to try and cancel New Year’s instead. Our police in their great wisdom in protecting us from COVID announced that they would not tolerate any NYE crossover gatherings, be it at church or at parties and imposed a 9pm curfew with anyone caught on the wrong side, celebrating their New Year’s as a guest of the state.

And because safety matters, the police also banned firecrackers starting from any New Year’s Day celebrations and as a general rule. Justifiably in the past, there have been casualties from firecrackers and also if you are a pet owner you probably how agitated they get with fireworks…. but the timing timing timing you cant announce such a ban on the eve of New Year’s Eve when people have probably already stocked up on their bang bangs and instantly turning ordinarily law-abiding citizens into criminals.

It also sounded like people didn’t pay too much heed to the ban because while I was crossing over to the New Year safely at home others were firing up their crackers….
For those who were brave enough to defy the curfew and up for a game of Temple Run: Flee From Police New Year Edition I can bet they have colourful and sometimes horrific adventures to share. Our police are so serious about their job, they even arrested Batman.👇🏽👇🏽

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you that the New Year brought gifts, like rain.. It rained on New Year’s Day and I find that symbolic for washing away the past and turning over a new leaf. Some of the gifts weren’t as… let’s just say… er wholesome, on the first day of the year woke up to an electricity blackout followed by the news that revealed that a “System Maintanence” the power utility company had announced was really for putting in place a tariff hike..

….and then the first email of the year reminded me of my none existent bank balance, but still, we move.🍻
Meanwhile in the education sector, schools re-opening has been deferred till further notice, because COVID… but some whispering whisperers say it’s likely because the government didn’t have funds to adequately pay teachers and other civil servants and thus the COVID-19 fourth wave driven by the Omicron variant become the scapegoat.
Considering that the Omicron variant seems to have a much lower fatality rate and that even our neighbouring country South Africa where we usually copy and paste policy, has relaxed their COVID regulations while we tightened up, maybe we know something they don’t know….

If you were having coffee with me I would tell you I read news of flurona resulting from a convergence of influenza and corona…. Then I stopped reading, the world is a scary place and the future is always uncertain but we live with hope and wonder and as Shakespeare put it in Hamlet.
"What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! how infinite in faculties! in form and moving, how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension, how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of animals"
Compliments of the New Year… how has your year started off?
