Of Creating A World With A Word

I painted a picture…
I created a world with a word…
I made sense from nonsense,
I used intense sense to change tense,
Tension became intention
and the intent turned win into ‘one‘ like water into wine and next came the text
pen makes love to paper,
Everything has an agenda,
Paper becomes pregnant and gives birth to words without gender;
the words become hungry and are fed with metaphors.
I sketched a beautiful world with the pencil of imagination,
I gazed in admiration,
at this imagined nation,
So I painted a picture,
I created a world with a word…
And I called it poetry.

    1. Haha one can now do this… you simply add an audio block (similar to how you posted the video except I uploaded a recording haha )
This is one of those things I have always wanted to try out because some posts are meant to be read out loud..

      2. Oh that makes me feel better as I was very nervous sharing my first video. But I share on FB all the time but that’s such a small group compared to who “might” see and hear it here on this platform. Go for it, you sounded amazing. The perfect read I think! 😉😍

      1. I swear that was impressive. Writing is funny; you can’t fake it. It is there or it isn’t, and some times we got it than other times. I think it’s safe to say you roared through it this time. Maybe it was a dose of that coffee you write about 🙂

  2. This is beautiful! Does anyone else get reminded of the nebula or galaxy when seeing the white spots of paint on the hand like stars distributed in the space? 🤩❤

    1. Thank you…
After I had finished painting the paint spots on my hands reminded me of a galaxy of stars which is how I came upon the idea of painting a world with words…

  4. Beautiful! You are a master with words. The idea of recording it is an added bonus and it’s interesting to have a voice to go with the face. Thanks for sharing.

When I wrote it, I knew it was meant to be read otherwise one might miss the full experience of the word play especially being very short one might just rush through without feeling it….
      I might do this more😍

  5. That was awesome!
I like the subtle melody in the background. It works well with the word.
“the words become hungry and are fed with metaphors.” that was my favorite line.
I like how this piece is poetic, funny, and smart.

hahaha a voice to the blog… more reading coming soon just that my primary recording was my phone its currently dead I had intended to do more of these and even read out some of my other more conversational blog pieces, because punctuation juts cant get some of the inflections i want to infuse in my writing

      1. Glad you plan to do more reading soon. No rush. If you were nervous, it didn’t show at all. Maybe organize the links to all your readings on one page on your blog or categorize them for easy search. Just a suggestion.

  6. Beaton, I haven’t been here in much too long. I loved this today and especially loved hearing you! The music background, your voice, and your words were a perfect combination, a beautiful view into your world. Your photograph goes so well with it, too. Brilliant. Bravo! ♥.

  7. What a beautiful poem! I think my favorite line was “Tension became intention”. I’ve always believed that words shape our thoughts and actions and through them the world. Thanks so much for sharing, and happy new year!

This was a fun and whimsical poem to create and with comments like these I am learning how I captured so much more in it than I realised.

  8. That was a perfect blend of music and spoken word. It was delightful. Aside from reading your own work you could do voice over. I liked the picture too. I’m always happy covered in paint.
