Die Hart 2: Die Harter
Die Hart 2: Die Harter is an American action comedy film starring Kevin Hart, it is a sequel to the 2023 movie Die Hart based of an action comedy series of the same name. The movie premiered on Amazon Prime on 30 May 2024.

The sequel follows Kevin Hart playing a meta version of himself as a successful actor with grand plans of creating an innovative, unscripted, live-action movie which becomes tangled with a vengeful plot from the past….
The Good
I chuckled at the title which is a play on the Bruce Willis movies.
Its Kevin Hart being Kevin Hart… but not too Kevin Hart. The movie almost feels like Kevin Hart is making a statement on wanting to be taken as an action star as well and not just the stereotypical comic role that he usually plays, something in the vein of the Man From Toronto.

It’s a fast-paced, fun, action movie with some highly choregraphed action set pieces that parodies some action movie scenes and movie stereotypes.
Kevin does well with his comedic timing and even displays a fair bit of range in his acting. There is great chemistry with the cast which just makes everything work Jordan (Nathalie Emmanuel) as his co-star, and Andre (Ben Schwartz) as his PA. … and there is John Cena being…, different.

The ending is wild.
The Bad
Its Kevin Hart… one who isn’t a typical Hart fan, will find a heartful to hate in Die Hart 2.
The plot feels all over the place and outlandish as the show producers focused on developing the action at the expense of the storyline and the characters.

Straddling the line between action and comedy is not an easy feat and Die Harter struggles to find that balance, with some of the comedy falling flat and out of place resulting in tonal inconsistencies in some scenes.
The ending is wild.
The Ugly
The film feels like a watered-down attempt at recreating the classical action comedy parody Tropic Thunder but with a twist and instead what you get is something that doesn’t bring the thunder.
The movie also tries to show stereotypical ways female characters are portrayed as damsels in distress needing saving. Ironically the movie also does the same thing by not fleshing out the female characters nor giving them more impactful plot points.

Final Thoughts
Die Hart 2: Die Harter is a fun watch for one looking for a couple of laughs and not trying to write a many paged intellectual think piece. You don’t need to have seen the prequel or series its based on to watch this movie.
Have you watched it, is something you would watch are you a Kevin Hart fan?
