The only fly in the ointment is how the dem blocks wont let me embed the anchor player otherwise I would be adding audio streams to more of my posts

Did you try this: “The easiest way to do this is with the Podcast Player block. You can copy and paste the share/embed URL from your Anchor podcast and it will embed similar to the podcast episode I embedded above from TheDesignAir. For more information on using the block, check this out: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/podcast-player-block/“
The challenge with this is for some reason for Anchor the Player Block wont allow a specific audio embed but instead shows a playlist of all the audio from Anchor instead of just that one specific I want and over time it gets a bit messy… for example check how this post has aged https://becomingthemuse.net/2020/06/15/of-tsumo-shona-proverbs/
