Knives Out is a 2019 movie written and directed by written and directed by Rian Johnson.
The film’s ensemble cast, includes Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas, Don Johnson and Christopher Plummer.
Knives Out was theatrically released on November 27, 2019, by Lionsgate and then for home media released on Digital HD on February 7, 2020 and on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K on February 25.
What its about
Knives Out is a whodunnit murder mystery about a rich crime author who seems to have committed suicide on the evening of his 85th birthday celebration with his dysfunctional spoilt family.
A private detective Benoit Blanc played by Daniel Craig is hired to consult with the police to determine if any foul play happened and his investigations reveal how the family members all might have motive to kill the head of the family… so now who did it?

During an interview with Vanity Fair Rian Johnson may have revealed a potential trade secret about how the Apple brand has strict rules for on-screen appearances of its products.
“Apple, they let you use iPhones in movies, but — and this is very pivotal if you’re ever watching a mystery movie — bad guys cannot have iPhones on camera.”

I tried to keep track of the phones I saw people were using but I was never ready for the twist.
When you are watching the movie you might think you have it figured out and that instead of a murder mystery; its actually a will they get away with it or not … you could be right but then again, I will bet you, just like me; you wont see it coming.
Hidden Code… Once the mystery is solved, the expression on the portrait changes.
Casting

Daniel Craig aced the eccentric world famous detective with a head full of anecdotes although I found his southern accent a bit much maybe they tried to make him exactly unlike a Sherlock Holmes character.
…but let me assure you this: my presence will be ornamental, a respectful, quiet, passive observer. Of the truth.
I loved the nurse Marta Cabrera played by Ana de Armas and thought her performance stellar especially her “condition” which made it impossible for her to lie.
It was refreshing to see Captain America Chris Evans not being a goody two shoes but rather the family black sheep, someone you would really love to hate
Interesting Tidbits
Rain Johnson was influenced/inspired a lot by Agatha Christie mysteries and this movie is a modern day whodunit.
The name Harlan Thrombey is taken from a 1981 Choose Your Own Adventure whodunit, Who Killed Harlowe Thrombey?
The title was taken from the 2001 Radiohead song “Knives Out”
“Obviously, the movie has nothing to do with the song … That turn of phrase has always stuck in my head. And it just seemed like a great title for a murder mystery.”

Final Thoughts
Knives Out is well crafted murder mystery that will have you at the edge of your seat trying to put together the puzzle of what really happened and if you haven’t watched it, do yourself a favour and watch it now.
