Reacher Season 4 Review
Reacher is an action crime television series developed by Nick Santora for Amazon Prime Video. It is based on the Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child. The fourth season, based on the thirteenth novel, Gone Tomorrow, premiered on the 12th of August 2026.
Season 4 opens with a suicide that gets Jack Reacher entangled in a conspiracy involving the police, government agents and shadowy thugs, all trying to get their hands on Reacher.
The Good
Reacher’s back…
He isn’t just a big man who punches people, he is a big guy who thinks, observes, calculates and then punches people, delivering deadpan wit.
Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher’s continues to show great command of the character, using his physicality and charisma in a winning formula that somehow continues to work four seasons later.
Season 4’s supporting cast provides a welcome balancing anchor, ensuring that Reacher isn’t simply a one-man army wandering from one beatdown to another. Tamara Green, Jacob Merrick and Russell Plum are given considerable room to move the plot along and, more importantly, give Reacher a team to bounce off.
Compared to the previous seasons, Reacher has his work cut out for him. He gets things wrong, has to rethink his assumptions. On several occasions, he barely manages to get away through sheer determination and an impressive refusal to stay down.
The Bad
Some of the fight scenes tend to play out much longer than necessary. You find Reacher trading blow for blow with an opponent half his size who, by all reasonable calculations, should have been taken out with a single punch. Then Reacher walks away from near-impossible situations, especially given the amount of damage he has taking on.
There is a lot going on, so the plot feels unnecessarily convoluted, and while it has a strong opening, the middle episodes feel like a drag and lose the momentum the series had built up.
The Ugly
The fight sequences can get brutal as Reacher gets thrown into some ridiculous situations.
I had hoped Neagley would make an appearance as she usually does in the previous episodes but she is conspicuously absent.
Final Thoughts
Season 4 is still recognisably Reacher, building on what works and paving the way for expansion. Neagley will be starring in a self-titled spinoff series.
