Of The Art Of Life

The Art of Life

Something I wrote over 20 years ago and recited on stage….

The Art of Life

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Lo and behold the splendour of life. Shield your eyes lest you be dazzled as I unveil a masterpiece. The stroke is beauty with a smiling face, its magnifique. Let me be your connoisseur as we judge this work, pay particular notice to the facets of art, the finer things.

Ladies and Gents — THE ART OF LIFE

What is life?

Life is a magical gift which cannot be seen or felt but like wind we know its there for we see it move leaves of trees. Trees are life, the judges are life, you are life, so am I actually, we are all life, come to think of it.

How you live life, now that is a delicate art, that is the Art of Life.

Cleopatra the great was an artist (though she too was a work of art). She knew what made the world round, secrets that made clocks tick, and could influence others to recognise beauty when they saw it. Small wonder when Julius Caesar cast eyes on her it was love at first. Together they ruled the world, a picture of art.

A famous musician, Beethoven, had the art, a talented musical composer, by 19 he was deaf. Surprisingly his greatest works he composed deaf, asked how he did it, he claimed he could see art round him and turn it into musical notes.

He died with a smile, and his last words were “I’ll hear in heaven”

The simple pleasures of life are derived from living life to the fullest. We have only one life, extract all the art from it.

We should learn to dream and have a creative mind otherwise how else would I have travelled round the world and paused for tea with the Queen and or still made it in time to be here and present this speech.

The was a scientist Kekulé, who discovered the structure of benzene after it came to him in a dream.

I urge you to dream, who knows you might dream up the cure for cancer or AIDS, or a solution for world peace. Better yet, you could just dream of the boy or girl of your dreams and make it real. But beware, dangerous is he who dreams with his eyes open, for reality becomes illusion and illusion reality, for you will then be out of your mind — there is a difference between insanity and Art.

If you are not living on the edge then you are taking too much space. Live life on the verge without bounds, an artful life. Pursue your wildest dreams, take calculated risks where you see light at the end of tunnel (were you reckless you’d ask “what tunnel”).

And if life does not treat you fair, marinade it with a bit of optimism, after all, don’t sweat the small stuff, and according to the rules of art, everything is small stuff.

Forrest Gump said: “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.” So see the sunset with its orange-red clouds, it is like a giant raspberry drink with ice cubes.

When all is said and done, in life there are some things we can never really be sure of — the the rest is icing on the cake, life is a cake.

Bake it

Smile to your neighbour or flash a dazzling smile to your admirer.
