Well and worse

Some of my things are going well
Some of my things are going not so well.
A polite way of saying
they’re going somewhere
I wouldn’t go even if you paid me
And considering how my bank balance
Is tragic comedy in 3 acts,
That’s saying a lot.

Now here’s where it gets interesting.
I don’t know if the things going not so well
will improve,
or get worse,
or simply become complicated.

And I don’t know if the things going well
will keep on going well,
or stop going well,
and decide to go sideways.
Which is usually worse.

But here’s the thing.
Here’s the thing.
It’s all going.
the blessed and the bewildering,
the promising and the perplexing.
all of it in motion.
Never stopping, never settling.

And I’ve decided that counts as something.
Not success.
Not failure.
Just going.
Like life itself,
Which, when you think about it,
is really all any of us are doing.
Going, going, going…
