Silo Season 2 Review
Silo is sci-fi dystopian drama series created by Graham Yost based on the Wool series of novels by Hugh Howey. The second season premiered on the 15th of November 2024 with the 10th and final episode airing on the 17th of January 2025.

Season 2 continues the story immediately after where it ended in Season 1 with Juliette Nichols seeming to survive being sent outside to clean, resulting in questions and tensions building up in the Silo as people demand answers.
The Good
Silo Season 2 builds on the tension and mystery from the first season, keeping viewers engaged with its slow-burn sci-fi narrative, answering questions people have been curious about, while also introducing new characters and mysteries to unravel in light of the failed cleaning and the founders plans for the Silo.

Rebecca Ferguson‘s performance as Juliette Nichols, continues to shine bringing depth and intensity to her character. Initially, I didn’t care much about her character but she has grown on me, to be a memorable person and unintentional face of the rebellion.

Bernard Holland played by Tim Robbins, also has a story-arc that sees him grow from the totalitarian villain of Season 1, to a grounded man trying to save his Silo, you might not like him or agree with his methods but you get to understand him.

A new character, Solo played by Steve Zahn introduces an interesting perspective to Silo, and is one of the stand out characters of Season 2 of Silo which also lends an interesting dynamic to Juliette Nichols via the two’s volatile personalities.

Silo has strong female leads who most times have more sense than their male counterparts, going against the status quo for their beliefs and to protect their families.
The Bad
The lighting is very dark in some scenes and making it very hard to see whats happening and adjusting the brightness didnt really help… maybe they expect us to all have LED TVs with True black…

The story is split between 2 major plots, the events in the Silo after the failed cleaning and the things happening with Juliette Nichols.. It doesn’t feel like we get enough time following each of these plot point that the storyline seems fragmented with an erratic pacing that comes across as jarring.
Season 2 deviates from the book series in a big way, introducing new characters and timelines that are somewhat different from the book, some of the changes work while others don’t quite track…. It also means even if you read the books there’s things that will happen that you cannot predict.
The Ugly
Once again, the ending is one of those that will have you wondering how you are going to spend the time waiting for the next or possibly read the books for yourself…. As someone who has read the books, you questions will not be fully answered.

Again the Series echoes some important themes about people in power and how their good intentions can actually result in oppressive regimes, appreciated by none and thus undoing all the good that could have resulted.
Final Thoughts
Season 2 of Silo maintains its mystery and claustrophobic tension in the underground Silo making it a compelling watch for fans of the show and books. Silo has been renewed for a third season and also a fourth and final season.
Fun Fact: I ran into the Zimbabwean actress Chipo Chung who plays Sandy in Silo and stared in Black Cake… I am a big fan, but didn’t realise it was her at the time but next I will be ready ^_^
Are you a Silo fan or its not on your radar?
