Great post. Yes, this is one of my favorite songs as well. I grew up listening to this song during my childhood. To most people, it’s a catchy song that is easy to listen to. But for me, the lyrics actually hold personal meaning. The song is essentially about a guy yearning to reunite with his lover that thousand miles far away. He laments how circumstances in life have prevented them from being together. I can relate to it because I was separated from a childhood crush that I regarded with affection. Immigration became a barrier that prevented us from ever getting back together. Recently, a fantastic film called “Past Lives” captured my feelings to reunite with my crush in past lives. Unrelated to the song, but here’s why I recommend the film strongly:
