When you hit 25 that yesteryear song by Winky D hits different…

At 25, I thought I would have a better life….but here I am. I might not be where I dreamt I would be, but I have been making moves. That little boy has come a long way.

I would not be where I am without the love and support of my family. I am forever grateful for the sacrifices my parents had to make, to put me through school and university. I am from humble beginnings where every cent counted, if you wanted something you worked for it.

I remember when I told my father I wanted needed a mobile phone, he did not give me money to buy a one, he gave me wares to sell. I put in the work. That’s how I paid for my first phone.

 The values and spirit of entrepreneurship that I learnt from my parents have been more practical than most things formal education taught me, actually, that’s what helped drive and guide me to not be afraid or ashamed to put in the work, be it sweeping with a broom or typing behind a keyboard.

That is why my first degree is dedication to my parents… “for teaching me that determination, hard work, and a little bit of creativity can take you anywhere in life.”

Where has my journey taken me?

From the High School days when Science Practical’s used to show us flames to creating award winning projects and giving back to the community.

For my university project in 2019 I designed a system to detect gas leakages, and sound an alarm in case of a gas leakage.

I was a first runner-up at the 2022 ZITF Hackathon Agricultural and I was Team Leader for WeSolve, where we developed some solutions for agriculture.
