“What is this?” A toddler asks in the way toddlers think you know the answers to life and everything, holding up something you can barely make out between their fingers… You gesture for them to hand it over as you ask “Where did you get it?”

As you inspect the foreign material’s puzzling texture turning it over your fingertips a sneaky suspicion enters your head confirmed by the response that should have come sooner than it did.
