Of Take Me Home

Take Me Home – Freshlyground music

It’s a bold new chapter for my favourite afro-fusion pop band Freshlyground. Returning to the music with a bang to deliver a bluesy, deeply soulful melody that heralds a new age and a new lead vocalist Mbali Makhoba.

The 20-year-old vocalist steps in to fill the shoes left by Zolani Mahola who left to pursue a solo career in 2019. Zolani had more or less been synonymous with the band and her departure which was embraced with nothing but love and good vibes left the group perfoming as a cover band of itself… until now….

They have released 3 tracks so far, Welele (14 November2025), Jabula (26 January 2026) and now Take Me Home (20 February 2026) named after their upcoming album Take Me Home. The music video for Take Me Home officially introduces Mbali Makhoba, who is now home with the Freshlyground family, where she belongs, adding a renewed warmth richness, and soul…

I have had this track on repeat, with its layered interpretation that make it relatable on different levels but ultimately speaks to growth, to change, and to the courage of stepping into new territory.

Take me home is more than a song its a message, a heartfelt cry for peace of mind - Mbali Makhoba
