The way a toddler sits,
precariously,
on the edge of the bed or sofa,
blissfully unaware of the fall,
nor your panic,
as you try to usher them away from the edge,
without startling them, 
causing that which you tried to avoid,
them falling over the edge and into the void.

    Wonderful. I understand this feeling from when my children were small. A situation like this rarely ended well.
