Of Coffee With A Quadripoint Curve

If you were having coffee with me, I would be here and you would be there, and I would be happy to see you; I would ask you if you ever been curved?

To be curved is new-age speak for when someone rejects your intentions/interests passive-aggressively which is usually in an indirect non-confrontational way…

Usually these are romantic interests that will be deflected but they can also be business proposals… I have just realized maybe that’s why they call them business proposals, or when someone asks you to jump into bed with them, as in join them in their business venture not the literal meaning, focus… Anyway, I think we just got curved… but first a bit of a back story..

If you were having coffee with would tell you about this interesting spot in Southern Africa; Kazungula. A quadripoint; where four countries Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe meet.

*move slider to see borders

If you were having coffee with me I would tell you that I have always wondered who drew up the imaginary lines that we call boaders… meaningless conventions of sovereignty based on lines drawn on maps. Anyway, Botswana and Zambia got together to construct a 923-metre-long bridge linking the two countries and curving others.

This $259 million dollar bridge which took about six years to be completed will ease the transport blues for those who used to rely on the Kazungula Ferries to make the crossing while others opted for a transit route via Zimbabwe.

The bridge is hailed as a boost towards intra-trade in Southern African states, it could have been shorter if they did not seem like they were avoiding crocodiles in the water or something buts its still some marvelous engineering feat. Cross-boarder haulage traffic passing through Zimbabwe is predictably going to decrease, easing congestions on highways and border traffic but also potential revenue.

If you were having coffee with me I would tell you that hopefully our government will be inspired to speed up their process to rehabilitate the nation’s highways and dualise the traffic lanes if they hope to keep the country open for business as a preferred alternative route for East-bound traffic and not suffer a serious dip in revenues and having to dip their fingers in the taxpayers cookie jars.

The Minister of Health was fired over a 60 million dollar tender and is out on bail pending a court case meanwhile it turns out the Deputy Minister of Health is also in some 5,6 million dollar tender storm. The Anti-Corruption Commission seems to go through the motions unearthing corruption which just make headlines but never result in prosecution, in what’s been dubbed Catch And Release where the government seems like its doing the work to crack down on corruption…

zacc probes health deputy minister
where were they probing?

If you were having coffee with me I would tell you that the current Minister of Health who is also the Vice President and a retired army general has been cracking proverbial whips in the health sector and junior doctors who had been on an industrial action have apologized and expressed remorse at their actions inorder to resume with their studies which had been stopped… I am even scared to find out how we ended up here but here we are still…

Justice Erica Ndewere is facing charges of gross misconduct and a three-member tribunal is set to inquire the suitability of her holding the office of a judge. Though the Judicial State Commission says the charges pre-date Job Sikhala’s court case, word on the street is that the judge is being victimized for going against the wishes of the Chief Justice and granting bail to Job Sikhala a politician and activist who had been jailed for “inciting violence”.

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you of a Student Union leader who was arrested for participating in an illegal gathering with intent to commit public violence on 18 September was released on bail Friday the 16th of October after being denied bail on the grounds that he would commit a similar offence. Ngadziore was granted a ZWL $5000 bail with conditions meant to keep him in line.

Bail conditions for Ngadziore include:

•to stay 500m away from at Impala Car Rental
•To surrender passport and report at Harare Central Law and Order CID section every Friday
•Forbidden from taking part in any public gatherings of any kind
*Impala Car Rental is a car rental agency which is alleged to be used in alleged state-sponsored abductions of political activists.

Addressing the press soon after his release Takudzwa Ngadziore makes an impassioned speech

“There was a prison inside of me before I was in prison. If they fail to respect our existence, then they should be assured of our resistance.”

“We will never kneel down to the tyranny of kakistocracy. We stand resolved. And we stand staunchly on the position that we have.” – Takudzwa Ngadziore

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you that schools are supposed to have started their phased opening but teachers and their unions are still doing their industrial action and without teachers and supervision, the school kids have gone wild…

school kids go wild

The Ministery of Education says as far as its concerned schools are open…. Well that’s that and that is that…

The Jacaranda trees are in bloom, hospital staff sell fake Covid test certificates to people intending to travel and yeah there are bogus cops with dodgy roadblocks shaking down motorists… what’s going on in your neck of the woods?

Meanwhile if you intend to travel to Uganda note it has a curfew from 2100hrs-0600hrs. Aeroplane passengers moving after the curfew, should produce Air Tickets and Boarding Passes and Drivers should have evidence that they have come from the Airport to drop or pick up passengers…

So who wants me to send them an email saying I am visiting come pick me up at the airport, then can use that to move after curfew?

The System can be curved…

PS how would you list the following so I know what save you when you visit and I am curving you…

We have 4 states that meet and it’s called the 4 corners. Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico, which you may know but you reminded. I’ve been to the spot where they all meet and it’s kinda cool to be able to walk into each state. Lol 😀
And I’ve never had any of those chicken parts. Think I’d stick to veggies instead. 😁
