Of Coffee, Endings And beginnings

If you were having coffee with, I would be pleased you are here, just like I would be pleased to say goodbye to 2019 and hoped 2020 would treat us kinder…

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you I completed a 25 day blog everyday challenge and it was a fun exercise, I made a thread of the posts on Twitter if you ever want to check out what you missed.

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you I made an interesting discovery while blogging everyday and its that the hardest line is the first one and after that I literally have to force myself to come to a conclusion with a post that’s supposed to be a simple 300 words ending up 500+

Maybe I was unconsciously rushing to have an average wordcount that was not such an evil symmetry.

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you that while drafting my ideas for posts I have also come to realise, I have a lot of subtext, a post about something is always about something else for example this one is supposed to be about how now that I have finished my blogging challenge, I should take a break to reflect, recharge and reboot into the New Year…

Uncle of bloggers

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you that speaking of taking a break, do you know who else has not yet taken their annual leave, our President. Curiously ever since November when the Vice-President returned from a six month medical absence in China, this has been the longest stretch of time the President has spent in the country without jetting off on private charter on a state visit or other. The Vice-President is a retired army general who was instrumental in the coup that was not a coup that resulted in Robert Mugabe’s “resignation.”

Vice-President’s return has been cause for a lot of talk and speculation, especially when one of the first things he did when he came back was to summarily start divorce proceedings and have his wife arrested for attempted murder of the Vice-President, fraud and money laundering of almost USD $1 million.

If you were having coffee with me I would tell you how state media has already started referring to the second lady (apparently that’s what you call the wife of the VP while the first lady is the president’s wife… who knew) by her maiden name as its said she forged the divorce to her ex- husband then forged marriage to theVice-president and was trying to finalise his will and then finish him off by disconnecting his life support after her poisoning attempt had failed.

Almost sounds like a plot with all the elements of an Agatha Christie novel, and so we are glued for the plot twist.

Some say this is all a ruse to distract us all from what’s really going on in the political corridors of power we focus on this one woman’s case to the exclusion of all else. Some are sympathizing with her plight and calling out the VP as a patriarchal misogynist for making such a grand spectacle of his divorce; while others are unsympathetic saying this is the bed she made for herself, now she must lay in it…..

Oh and the VP just left the country for a medical review in China and the Second Lady reported to be unwell in remand prison

conspiracy theories

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you that there are Conspiracy Theories everywhere; and to check out Melody’s guest review of a one man stand-up comedy act by King Kandoro titled Conspiracy Theories and the DVD is coming soon

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you for the first time since I can remember it did not rain this Christmas: to read the 25th post in the 25 days of holidays challenge, hit the image below:

Christmas in Zimbabwe
Christmas spirit

This will probably be the last coffee I share with you this year (I wanted to say this decade but it seems to be a raging debate; when does the decade end; this year or next year?)

Wishing you all the best in the New Year

~B

PS this post has 700 words ^_^ and a break for what when I have so many thoughts needing to be written?

I discovered the same thing this morning. I sat down to write my post, knowing what I wanted to write about. I think there’s a lot more stuff in there than what I intended. I read more than once that writing a post should imitate the way you talk. Well, I guess that’s that.

Yep Africa’s presidents and governance systems really need to get their priorities right

So the dry streak is all over… is the climate change and global warming, we even had a scare that the Victoria might run dry if the current trend continues

      all the best

    Hi Beaton.
Yea, a few over here have piled on the question of when the decade ends and begins.
I raised my hand to argue that “the decade” is indicated by the 3rd digit of the year.
Thus we would never say that the music of the 80s runs from 1981 -> 1990.
Obviously, it would run from 1980 -> 1989 and 1990 would be the first year of the 90s.
    So there. That’s my opinion.
Life would be so much easier if everyone would just ask and then agreed with me.
    Don’t you agree. . . ?

Gary, life would be soo much simpler, but wait I saw this movie or was it a book a read, I don’t remember but someone trying to brainwash the world into agreeing with them…. And though it was for noble intentions it would stifle free thinking lol if I didn’t read that book I should write hmmmm

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that it was about damned time, that for the longest time, I wanted to.
I suspect that the “underground gang” is upset by the shenanigans of our politicians, so no rain. Second Lady? Chai!
I wonder do the ancestors ascend to a higher realm of knowledge and what happens to all their trauma?

I’d ask where humanity gets their endless optimism from. Is it on tap at a bar, I haven’t been to yet? Not to rain on anyone’s parade, what does a calendar date change have to do with effecting real change.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I enjoy your subtext when I understand it.

I’d tell you that yes, you’re our blogger uncle but to me, you’ll always just be B.

You know I think you may be onto something about the underground gang and I think it’s not just because of the politicians but also even us, for forgetting about them, and calling them the underground gang does not help… So no rain.

      Second lady…. Imagine

Maybe the ancestors trauma remains behind tainting our very existence with unresolved issues from before we were born….

I never question where it comes from I am just grateful since without it, it would be very hard to find the point of all this…

If you were having coffee with me, I would tell you sometimes even I don’t understand my subtext 😂😂😂

      I am and always 😍😍

I think our president (Uganda) has never taken leave that wasn’t medical, even then the newspapers report it as travel without much detail.
